St. John's Youth Ministry

St. John's Youth Mass & Youth Choir Schedule:

St. John's Youth Masses are held typically once a month.  This is the youth's opportunity to actively participate in the liturgy as members of the choir, as cantors, as lectors, as gift bearers, etc.  Throughout the school year, the Youth Ministry will rotate through all of the masses, each month participating in a different mass (5:00 p.m., 7:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., & 11:00 a.m.)

At Christmas time, the Youth Mass has traditionally become the 9:00 p.m. Christmas Eve mass.  For this mass, the Youth Ministry not only participates in the liturgy but also add a little something extra.  Following communion, the youth present a moving rendition of Stille Nacht by Manheim Steamroller that uses sign language.  In a pitch dark church, as the music begins, each signer will be lighted by a candle (held by another youth) until the church is alight and then slowly that light fades as each candle is extinguished along with the music.  This undertaking is put together in only four rehearsals.  Youth interested in participating must commit to be at each rehearsal and to making this Christmas presentation the sacred offering that it becomes.
